Lauterbrunnen Resort Guide

Resort Information
Lauterbrunnen is at the head of a gorge of waterfalls, below Wengen and Mürren. It is an ideal village for walking and also for excursions; whether up to the Jungfrau or Schilthorn mountains, to the famous Trummelbach Waterfalls or to Interlaken and Lake Thun.

Walkers will be overwhelmed by the choice in the Jungfrau region with over 400 km of marked hiking trails. Take the mountain railway to Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the Eiger and follow the different paths back, or take the cable car to Männlichen and walk to Kleine Scheidegg, admiring the awesome peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau along the way. Furthermore we are proud to offer our very own Crystal Walking Escort who will provide two days accompanied walks per week, available to guests staying in all three villages. On nights of the full moon in July and August, special trains are provided to the Schynige Platte for guided moonlight walks! (duration 6hrs, experienced walkers only) Keen walkers should also consider our Bernese Oberland Walking Tour to maximise the walking opportunities on offer in this fantastic region. As well as hiking, Nordic walking has become a favourite activity in this region with many trails and a weekly programme is available locally.
Activities
There is a wealth of activities in Lauterbrunne, the Sports Centre offers tennis and minigolf and there is an open air pool for guests to enjoy. For something a bit different try Trotti biking between Sulwald and Isenfluh. Trotti bikes are like scooters but have very large wheels and sturdy breaks and are great fun. Alternatively you can explore the region using the more traditional method, mountain biking.
You can also make use of the efficient mountain railway and cable car system to visit the Schynige Platte Alpine Garden, Interlaken, Lakes Thun and Brienz, and the Schilthorn (the 'James Bond' mountain). The area is also home to more adventurous persuits such as climbing, white water rafting, paragliding and canyoning, available locally through your rep.
