Kandersteg Resort Guide

Resort Information
Kandersteg is situated at the head of the breathtaking Kander valley, formed thousands of years ago by the movement of glaciers. This traditional, friendly village is made up of pretty chalet style buildings set amongst sunny meadows, filled with alpine flowers. The Blüemlisalp mountain range guarantees fantastic views in all directions and the sound of waterfalls cascading down the cliffs of the 'U' shaped valley is more likely to be heard than the sound of any car engines. Situated just 17 miles from Spiez on Lake Thun, Kandersteg is the ideal place for excursions with easy rail links to Interlaken, Berne, Lucerne and Zermatt.
Please note: scheduled flights are not bookable online, please contact reservations on 0871 230 8180Walking
There are over 215 miles of hiking trails to suit all walkers. Gentle tracks run along the sunny valley floor for those wanting a leisurely stroll. Take the Oeschinen lift for the short walk to the Oeschinensee, a beautiful blue lake, dramatically surrounded by jagged peaks. The Sunnbüel cable car takes a different direction up to more paths with access to the Daubensee and on to the Gemmipass for a challenging hike. The trails are well signposted and show walking times. Local walking guides can be arranged by the Tourist Office and a walking pass can be bought locally.
