Slovenian Coast - Piran Resort Guide

Resort Information
Framed by the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea, the coast is brimming with history and tradition. Piran has retained its medieval layout, with narrow streets and compact houses. The neighbouring resorts of Portorož and the area of Strunjan are only a few kilometres away.
Walking
There are some magnificent paths to discover amidst picturesque Mediterranean scenery, up by the sloping vineyards, then through rich lavender and rosemary bushes. Begin by strolling along the 2km long promenade from Piran to Portorož, then visit an unusual fresh water lake in Fiesa or the sea-salt pans at Strunjan. When the sun goes down and the yacht marinas begin to twinkle in the dusk, Piran comes alive with people taking a stroll. Just a few kilometres inland from the coast, there are a number of wonderful, old Istrian settlements to explore such as Padna, Kostabona, Pomjan and Gazon.
Walking Map
Beaches basking in sunshine are lapped by the clear, aqua blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. Coastal resorts abound with a variety of activities including swimming, sailing, windsurfing, cycling and crazy golf. Full and half day boat trips are also available in resort, to view these stunning villages from the sea. Portorož is a cosmopolitan 'riviera' style resort, with 100 years of spa tradition and boasts a wonderful floral promenade. In high season, many towns become live stages for an array of international festivals, music concerts and many other outdoor events. Piran's fabulous Tartini square is a magnificent place to witness an open air concert. There is also a diverse excursion programme on offer, including a unique trip to Venice by hydrofoil.
