7 Night Guided Coach Tour seeking out the gems of Transylvania.
" Your chance to explore one of Europe's undiscovered areas" One of the most beautiful countries in Eastern Europe, Romania has a wealth of cultural and artistic delights waiting to be discovered. About a third of the country is covered by the Carpathian Mountains, also known as the Transylvanian Alps and it is this area that you can discover with our newly introduced tour. It is said that Transylvania sits on some of the Earth's strongest magnetic fields and vampires are believed to appear on certain days of the year. The area is also home to Bram Stoker's Dracula and it is easy to see why when driving through the dense, dark ancient forests and mountain passes. Count Dracula was inspired by one of the most famous figures in Romanian history, Vlad Dracula who was nicknamed 'Vlad the Impaler', a ruler in the mid 15th century. The tour isn't just about Dracula and his 'after dark activities' but is a beautiful area of castles, fortresses and medieval towns which are living, veritable symbols of Transylvania. You will stumble upon architectural treasures, narrow streets with tiny houses and cobbled passageways as well as tiny shops with antiques and the hand made work of artists and artisans from the villages. There are also the famous 'Painted Monastaries', many of which are now protected by UNESCO as for many years, Romania suffered invasions from the Turks and the monastaries were built in gratitude for the victories. This is a time to relax and enjoy the delights of Romania in convivial company. Tour Itinery Day 1: Travel to Bucharest and Pitesti.
