Eating Out
Well over 30 restaurants cater for all tastes and budgets. There are many beautiful hotels, most of which have restaurants which are open to non-residents, as well as many trattorias and pizzerias, all of which offer a very high standard of cuisine. Tuscan specialities may include pasta with the famous 'porcini' mushrooms, or 'bistecca alla fiorentina', a beefsteak from the Florentine area. Tuscan cooking also includes cured hams and meats, but a vegetarian would feel equally at home here due to the abundance of fresh vegetables, pasta and rice dishes, not forgetting the wonderful local pizza, to be enjoyed with a glass of local Montecarlo red wine.
Golf
An 18 hole, par 72 golf course, set in splendid surroundings, is situated 6 miles from the centre of Montecatini. All of our hotels offer discounted green fees.
Shopping
In Montecatini one may find all of the famous Italian shops normally seen in the bigger cities, as well as lots of family-owned smaller boutiques selling goods made locally and in the surrounding areas. Montecatini also sells its own traditional wafer biscuit known as 'cialde' which has a slight aniseed taste.
