Montecatini is an elegant town in liberty/art deco style centrally located for exploring the fascinating Tuscany region including the towns of Florence, Lucca and the coast. Its tree lined avenues surround large parks and gardens in which can be found the curative thermal springs housed in ornate buildings resembling ancient temples. The centre of the town retains a typical Tuscan atmosphere with musical events and street artists whilst also offering a wide variety of smart shops and cafés. Wonderful views over the Tuscan hills can be enjoyed from the medieval hilltop town of Montecatini Alto, reached by a funicular railway. The excellent sports facilities in the area include an 18 hole golf course, mini-golf, tennis and squash courts, mountain bikes and of course the superb spa facilities.
