Highlights Advice
Make an independent 'away day' by bus, train or hire car. Here are some suggestions.
Munich: The capital of Bavaria. Rich in history with lots to see and do.
Chiemsee - lake & castle: The vast lake of Chiemsee has watersports, a scenic cycle route around the lake and islands to visit on the lake's ferry service - the main attraction is the beautiful 'Herrenchiemsee' palace, built by King Ludwig with a design based on 'Versailles' in France.
Burghausen: A medieval town with the longest castle in Europe - 1043m!
Salzburg: A beautiful city to visit whatever your motivation. Visit the sites where the Sound of Music was filmed (English language guided tour available from Berchtesgaden), admire the classical architecture, enjoy a classical concert in this, the home of Mozart.
