Velden holidays

Velden

The clear, warm Wörthersee is nestled in the south of Austria, with a warm, sunny climate, similar to that of Lake Garda in Italy. The cosmopolitan town of Velden is a popular resort on the westernmost tip of Lake Wörthersee. The town has a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, sophisticated shopping and a selection of bars and restaurants. To really appreciate the mediterranean-style ambience the warm weather allows you to enjoy the lakeside beaches and lidos. The calm mornings make the lake ideal for waterskiing and wakeboarding with light breezes in the day for sailing. The impressive lakeside promenade is a hive of activity both by day and night and the perfect place to stop for a drink, at one of the many bars or cafes, to admire the truly spectacular views across the inviting lake to the Karawanken mountains.

Accommodation is also available in Pörtscach on the north shore of Lake Wörthersee, see Pörtscach Resort Guide.
