Schladming Resort Guide

Resort Information
Schladming has a rich and colourful history dating back over 700 years to medieval times, for centuries the cultural and craft centre of the area. Nowadays it offers a fine range of shops and cafés in an attractive, pedestrianised centre and a charming old town with the ancient 'Stadttor' (town gateway). There is a superb leisure centre, great walking and many other activities. There is also ample choice of evening entertainment including regular brass-band concerts, occasional classical performances and plenty of bars and restaurants.
Walking
Schladming is a marvellous area for a walking holiday, and a 'must' during your stay is the leisurely walk along the Talbach gorge to the Untertal Valley. Use of the summer lifts is FREE for Crystal customers with the FREE Schladming Summer Pass (lift opening dates vary; Planai gondola usually first to open in early June; most are open until end of September). A free walking map is included in your holiday price (one per booking). See page 11 for how to order (post & packaging charge applies).
The tourist office offers a fantastic FREE programme of guided walks with their own local, English speaking, walking guide. The week's programme is available at the Tourist Office where all you need to do is register the day before each walk you want to do.
