Resort Information
Saalbach has a lovely pedestrianised centre with a varied range of shops and cafés. The 'Schattberg X-press' gondola and other summer lifts whisk you up to the magnificent mountains giving easy access for all - walkers, mountain bikers and sightseers. Distinguished by its unique Alpine charm and the warm hospitality of the local people, Saalbach is a fantastic holiday destination.
Walking
There are over 400kms of marked walking paths around Saalbach, making it a wonderful choice for walkers - seasoned or new. Throughout the area there are mountain huts to stop at for lunch or refreshment, and many of the ski lifts are open in the summer, from the end of May to mid October, for the use of walkers. Your holiday includes a FREE 6-day Hiking and Pool Pass and a FREE walking map (one map per booking. Coupon must be completed & post & packaging charge applies).

Activities
Saalbach has a great range of facilities including swimming pools, archery, fishing, riding, paragliding and Nordic walking. There is a 9-hole golf course and driving range, and 6 18-hole courses within a short drive. Saalbach is in one of the best mountain biking areas in Austria. You can hire bikes in the village, there are over 200km of marked routes and many of the lifts will take bikes up too. Cards available include the "Bike" Card, for unlimited use of the lifts, the "Free Ride" Card (including the downhill course) and the "Bike World" Card (including entrance to "Bike World" in nearby Leogang as well), prices from approx. £15 for a day. Learn about the area at the Village & Ski Museum, at the open-air museum and at the weekly slide show. Learn about the making of schnapps (and sample some!) at the local distillery and join in the weekly programme of events - which include folk evenings, brass band concerts and street painting. Throughout the summer Saalbach and the surrounding area play host to some fantastic festivals including the Saalbach Classic Car Rally, the Hinterglemm Farmers' Market and the World Games of Mountain Biking (dates tbc for 2008).
