Mayrhofen Resort Guide

Resort Information
In a magnificent position at the head of the Ziller Valley, and encircled by the spectacular scenery of the Zillertaler Alps, Mayrhofen is one of the Tirol's prettiest and liveliest resorts. Rustic wood-panelled bars and easy-going pavement cafés line the village streets, where craft shops are filled with ornate wood carvings and folklore fashion. Throughout the summer there are festivals of folk-singing and dancing, as well as colourful processions and brass-band concerts, keeping the wealth of local traditions very much alive.
Walking
Mayrhofen is a perfect village for a walking holiday, with beautiful scenery spreading out along the Zillertaler Alps, including some National Park areas. In all there are over 200kms of marked walking paths and many huts to stop in along the way for refreshments. From early June-September you can also use the summer lifts, including the Penken cable car and the spectacular Ahorn cable car - the biggest in Austria. You can pre-book your walking map and we'll deliver it to your house before you travel. The map is Mayr 33 and includes a booklet of walk descriptions in English.
