Resort Information

Millstatt is a charming village set on the lakeside, surrounding it's 11th century Benedictine Abbey. Also on the lakeside is the smaller village of Dellach. Both villages have landing stages for the lake's boat service which takes you all around this 12km lake. The climate is mild and the lake popular for swimming. There is an attractive lakeside promenade and tremendous walking in the surrounding mountains with wonderful lake views.

Walking

There are over 500km of marked paths around the lake and up into the surrounding mountains of the Nockalm National Park and the Millstätter Alps. There are also mountain paths which take you to attractive view points and mountain hut restaurants and there are leisurely routes suitable for families, with lots of rest areas and even play areas along the way. There are also themed paths, with themes such as the 'wonderful flowers' ("Wunderblume") route, the 'mill trail' ("Mühlenwanderweg"), the 'villa route' passing 20 beautiful villas and the 'legend trail' following in the footsteps of the legendary giant who was supposed to have lived in the caves of Mirnock. The tourist office can provide you with full descriptions of these themed walks.

Activities

Sightseeing, relaxing, walking, tennis, golf, mini-golf, beach volleyball and much more. The village boasts an excellent leisure centre, a public lido, lake-side cycle paths and a variety of water sports including canoeing, electric and rowing boats, waterskiing, etc. Another big attraction to the area is its reputation for the festivals which are held by the lake and in the surrounding villages throughout the summer months. The most famous are the music festivals in the village of Millstatt and another popular festival is the Knight's Festival, up at the Sommeregg Castle (July & August).
