Lake Fuschl Resort Guide

Resort Information
This small, picturesque village is situated on the shores of the tranquil Fuschlsee. The lake is sheltered by pine-clad hills and has secluded bays, where shingle beaches slope gently into the calm, clear waters. Fuschl's idyllic location, in the heart of a Nature Reserve, makes it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Fuschl also boasts several excellent restaurants where you can savour the delights of the local cuisine, and there are open-air concerts to enjoy during high season. Just 25 minutes' away lies the elegant city of Salzburg and for those who wish to explore a little further afield, a range of interesting excursions are also available.
Walking
There is an impressive network of approx. 150kms of signposted walks through meadows and pine forests, along the lake shore as well as bracing climbs up to flower-strewn mountain pastures. Follow the trail over the 'Mozartblick' to enjoy the spectacular views of neighbouring Lake Wolfgang, and the pretty Ellmau stream brings you to a fascinating old flour mill. Fuschl Tourist Office provides good walking maps and there is even a special walking trail for families - The gnomes trail, with colourful gnomes marking the route and questions for children to answer on the way round!

Activities
Apart from being an excellent centre for hiking and rambling, Fuschl offers numerous sports facilities including swimming, boating (rowing and electric boats only), windsurfing, sailing and fishing on the lake. Take a boat trip on the lake past Fuschl castle and stop off at the castle fishery for some delicious smoked fish. Other sports on offer include golf, mini-golf and tennis.
For families there is a summer toboggan run as well as a children's weekly adventure programme (Jul/Aug) run by the Tourist Office. A great day out can be had at the Oberhiteregg farm where you can try breadmaking, bee-keeping and cheese-making, and afterwards you can taste your handiwork!
