Resort Information

High in the Paznaun valley, the traditional farming village of Ischgl still retains its original charm. The town centre is a delight to explore, around each corner you'll find boutique shops, top class restaurants and a selection of bistros and bars. Above Ischgl, there's a hikers paradise, easily accessible by the summer lifts. Explore by yourself or join our FREE walking weeks offered by the Tourist Office on selected dates! A FREE Silvretta Card is included in your holiday which offers free use of the lifts and is your entry ticket to the main leisure activities in Ischgl and the surrounding villages making it a great value way to explore this beautiful area.


Walking

With a hiking holiday in Ischgl, you'll find a variety of well marked trails for all levels. Leisurely hikers can enjoy low level, idyllic walking from Ischgl to the nearby villages of Galtür, Kappl or See alongside clear mountain brooks at the foot of impressive mountain peaks. The excellent network of summer lifts from Ischgl, Galtür, See and Kappl gives you easy access to over 300 km of walking routes in impressive high alpine landscape. There are trails to suit all levels, from mountain pastures and themed walking paths to summit and glacier tours. With the Swiss border within easy reach, you can hike over to the Swiss village of Samnaun for a spot of duty free shopping and with 18 mountain huts to choose from there are plenty of opportunities to stop and relax at some of the most beautiful spots in the Alps, whilst enjoying typical Tirolean fare. The tourist office organises a weekly hiking programme as well as Walking Weeks with a dedicated English speaking walking guide on 27/06, 11/07 and 15/08.

This fantastic programme of walks has been exclusively organised for Crystal and includes a Silvretta Card and the services of a local walking guide! All walks take place in and around the villages of Ischgl, Galtür, See and Kappl and are a superb way to explore this beautiful area.

Monday
Ischgl - Smugglers Walk to Switzerland
(medium)
This walk follows the old smuggler trail over the border to Switzerland. After taking the Silvrettabahn and chairlift to Flimjoch at 2,757m, you can admire a stunning panorama of the surrounding mountains of the Samnaun valley, Silvretta and over towards the the mighty Ötztaler Alps. From Flimjoch, a leisurely hike will take you along the old smuggler’s path on the Alp Trida Sattl, over the Salaaser and down into the duty-free Swiss village of Samnaun. Return by cable car and back along the smuggler’s path to Ischgl. 
Duration of walk approx. 4-4.5hours.

Tuesday
Galtür – Mountain walk from Zeinisjoch to Verbella Alpe and the Fluspitz (medium)

From the Zeinisjoch Inn the walk takes you to the Verbella Alpe and then on to the Fluhspitze where you can admire stunning views of the Silvretta mountain range.
Duration of walk approx. 5-5.5 hours.

Wednesday - day off

Thursday
See – mountain walk to Furgler (difficult)

The 6 person gondola up to Medrigalm provides an easy start to this rewarding mountain hike. From Medrigalm, the trail takes you up to the Ascherhütte. Trail 702 takes you from the mountain hut up to the Furglerjoch and then on to the Furgler peak at 3,004m. From here, there’s a breathtaking panoramic view in all directions to reward your efforts after the climb up. The return walk, retraces the trail back to See.
Duration of walk 6.5-7 hours. Local charge for taxi (approx. €5-7pp).

Friday 
Kappl-Schmalzgrubenscharte (medium-difficult)
After taking the Diasbahn to Diasalpe, this walk takes you over the Almwiesen to the Schmalzgrubenscharte (2,697m). Here you'll find a fantastic view over the Lechtaler and the Otztaler Alps. This is also where the Rifflerweg trail begins, up to the Hohen Riffler at 3,168m.
Duration of walk – 4.5-5hours.

Please note: Programme is subject to change; Local charge for lunch/refreshments; The Silvretta Card is included in the price of your holiday and covers use of summer lifts and the local buses; Local charge for any taxis used (See-Furgler walk, approx. €5-7pp).

What to bring:
Good walking boots with ankle support, day rucksack, clothing to suit varying mountain weather incl. breathable waterproofs, sun cream and sun hat, camera, sufficient drink, money for lunch, snack, refreshments, taxi.


Activities

A variety of activities are on offer in Ischgl and the surrounding area. In Ischgl itself, the fantastic Silvretta leisure centre (opens late June) has an indoor adventure pool with a waterfall, massage jets, and an inviting temperature of 28 degrees! Alternatively, relax in the wellness area or on the sun terrace, or enjoy a game at the 4-lane bowling alley. Between approx. mid. June and the end of August there's also a fantastic outdoor pool with 47m waterslide in an idyllic woodland setting. The more active can tackle the high rope course, an exciting experience for the whole family, or try out the popular rafting courses with easy adventure tours suited to beginners and families. Ischgl has fantastic mountain biking for all levels with over 1000km of trails in the Silvretta area, including exciting rugged terrain accessable by 6 bike-friendly cable cars. Mountain bikes can be hired locally, and guided bike tours are also available.

Weekly children's programme - FREE with the Silvretta Card
The Ischgl Tourist Office organises a weekly kids' programme of outdoor adventures which may include a treasure hunt, high rope course, football, volleyball or BBQ in the forest.
Activities for teenagers may include mountain bike tours, climbing wall, rafting and a BBQ.
