Ellmau Resort Guide

Resort Information
Ellmau is set in a wide valley between two fantastic mountain ranges. To the north the awe-inspiring Wilder Kaiser range dwarfs the village, while the lush green meadows and the peaks of the Kitzbüheler Alps rise to the south. The village has a friendly atmosphere, with a small selection of lovely shops and inviting cafés as well as a wide choice of activities to keep even the most active holidaymaker occupied. A 'must' during your stay is a ride on Austria's longest funicular railway, to enjoy the fabulous views from the top of the Hartkaiser mountain.
Walking
There are over 160km of marked trails to explore either by yourselves or with the Crystal guided Tirolean Walking Tour (see 'other activities for more details). Ellmau Tourist Office also offers a programme of guided walks. Walkers' lift passes allow even the inexperienced walker easy access to some incredibly breathtaking scenery via the area's summer lifts. Ellmau's Hartkaiserbahn funicular railway is open May-October.
