Achensee - Pertisau Resort Guide

Resort Information
For centuries one of the Tirol's most popular holiday areas Achensee ("Lake Achen"), the largest lake in the Tirol (9km), is set against the imposing backdrop of the Karwendel mountains rising steeply out of the lake towards the skies. The resort of Pertisau lies peacefully on the shores of Achensee and is a lovely base for exploring the area. Altogether, Achensee has so much to offer whether you're looking to relax, walk or try new activities.
Walking
With over 450km of marked paths, Achensee is an excellent area for walking - from gentle lakeside paths and hikes in the National Park area, to the more challenging ridges and peaks of the Karwendel range. There are two main walkers' lifts - the Rofan cable car and the Karwendel gongola which are FREE for Crystal customers with your FREE Achensee Discovery Card. Crystal customers will also receive a FREE walking map (Mayr 30 1:40K)†. The Tourist Office runs a FREE walking programme Mon-Fri (local charge for any public transport/lift tickets not covered by the FREE Discovery Card).
